Editorial Policy

Independence

Crochetwiz is funded by affiliate links. No brand, yarn company or store pays for coverage, for a place in a ranking or for a mention, and we do not accept free products in exchange for coverage. Affiliate links are disclosed on every page that contains them.

What we cover

Learning to crochet and knit, the tools and materials involved (hooks, needles, yarn, kits and notions) and first projects. We write for adult beginners and improvers, and for people choosing a kit or a tool for someone else.

What we never cover

Crediting designers and sources

When we mention a stitch pattern, a technique popularized by a designer or a free pattern, we name its author and link to the original. Figures are attributed to their source with a link and the year.

Terminology

We use US crochet terms and give the UK equivalent where it helps, because the same abbreviation can mean two different stitches. Yarn weights follow the Craft Yarn Council’s standard categories, from 0 Lace to 7 Jumbo, and hook sizes are given in US letters and in millimeters.

How we write, and how we use AI tools

Each article starts from a precise question and answers it in the first lines. We use AI tools to help with research, structure and proofreading. Every page is checked and approved by the editorial team: sources are opened and read, figures are checked against their origin, and nothing is published that we could not stand behind.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we correct it and date the change on the page. Write to [email protected].

Links to other websites are editorial: we link when a page helps you, for example a designer’s free pattern or a standard we cite. Shopping links are marked as affiliate links.
