Crochetwiz is written by a small independent editorial team. We research crochet and knitting, from the first stitches to choosing hooks, yarn and beginner kits, and we explain how things work, who they suit and how to choose between them. We are not professional designers or certified instructors, and we do not claim to have made every project or used every product we cover.
How we work
Every page starts from a precise question and answers it in the first lines. We compare products on facts anyone can check: hook material and sizes, yarn weight and fiber, what comes in a kit, how clear its pattern is, and what makers report after using it. Our sources are manufacturers’ product pages, industry standards such as the Craft Yarn Council’s yarn weight system and hook size charts, and published reviews. Every figure we quote is attributed to its source with a link. When a recommendation is based on research rather than hands-on use, the page says so: every piece displays its level of evidence.
What we do not publish
We explain techniques (stitches, the magic ring, a standard granny square, how to read a pattern), not complete row-by-row patterns: for a full project we point to free patterns from their designers and yarn brands, with credit. We make no claims about health or wellbeing, and we describe ergonomic hooks by their grip, not by an effect on any condition.
Independence
The site is funded by affiliate links, disclosed on every page that contains them. Commissions never decide which products we cover or how we rank them: a comparison starts from stated criteria, not from merchants.
